Second Baptist Church is proud to offer children a program that teaches them God’s Word and develops a love for serving Jesus. Awana, which stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” comes from 2 Timothy 2:15. It is a child-based program that offers several opportunities for your child to grow spiritually through Scripture memorization and to develop a basic understanding of biblical principals and doctrines. It is for any and all children ages 2 through the 6th grade.

Awana is divided into four groups (called clubs) to better serve the various age groups. These include Puggles, Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T. See below for more details descriptions of each club. Normally, every club night begins with group prayer time and a chance for birthday kids to roll the Club Dice for more points to spend at STORE. Club nights end with awards, announcements, and prayer. The middle part is sectioned into group lesson time, snack, time, game time, and activity time. Game time includes activities that foster teamwork and allow the kids to let loose. Group lesson time is an opportunity to hear scripture and dive into the week’s lesson. We meet every Friday night from October through May. Please see the calendar for club nights. Once or twice each month we will have a fun night that may include pajama nights, wacky hair day, minute-to-win-it, or parties to celebrate special occasions.
