Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
“The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8 NASB)
Have you ever watched a leaf fall in the wind? It wants to touch the ground, but before it can, there is a dance it must perform. A seemingly joyful flow in the current it rides just before settling to the ground. Where will it lean, which way will it turn? In what spot will it land? Such things we are not meant to know. Ours is to stand back and marvel at the entwining beauty that spins and dips before us.
I feel like I am just learning to dance in the wind. Study trains me to know of the wind, but only surrender allows me to dance with it. Like two partners waltzing across the floor…one leading the other following. Where will we go, I cannot say for sure. I may lean this way, and turn that way. But in any event, I hope I settle down in a place I did not predict. For then I will know - it was not my dance to lead. And this, in all its mystery, is freedom. -PR
